Audi Cape Fear Tree Planting at the "Fearless Forest" Reclamation Project

11/10/2024 11:00 AM - 01:00 PM ET

Description

The ACFT, Plastic Ocean Project, and Audi Cape Fear will be planting 75 trees at the new "Fearless Forest" Reclamation Project located at the New Hanover County Landfill.

This event will be held on Sunday, November 10, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 pm at the New Hanover County Landfill just across the river (5210 US-421, Wilmington 28402).

We'll be planting a variety of oak trees to restore and enhance this charming area next to a pond in an old sand mine. This forest will enhance our community’s green spaces and exemplify how waste practices can be sustainable. Volunteers are welcome to join in supporting this meaningful effort!

Thank you to Audi Cape Fear for funding this project! They have been a very supportive partner of ours over the years.

Volunteers are needed to help with a variety of tasks: from planting trees, digging, and overall getting your hands dirty. Please wear long pants, boots/sneakers, and bring a hat and gloves if you like.  Also, bring sun screen and bug spray if you think you'll need it.

When you arrive, veer to the right and bypass the scale (you'll see signs). The landfill will be closed to the public that day. Park in the first gravel lot to the right. You will see our tents set up with bagels and coffee. That is where we will meet before heading to the planting site.

When signing up online, note that you will have to fill out your information twice (first as a registrant, then as an attendee).

Thank you for your interest and we hope to see you there!
